Zahira Mohammed is a key supporter for the Hei Whakapiki Mauri whānau, helping to organise events and activities alongside Kaiwhakahaere Ruth and Gary.

She grew up in Fiji, and has been in Christchurch for a decade now.

With five years’ experience as a support worker, Zahira is a nurturing presence with a natural dedication to the lives of others. Her role providing assistance to Ruth and Gary has made her a key part of the Hei Whakapiki Mauri whānau. Zahira’s extensive knowledge in support roles allows her to work with compassion and aroha with whānau at all times, creating a positive environment for the personal development of others.

Zahira enjoys working with Hei Whakapiki Mauri because she is learning about a new culture and is part of a community. She also has opportunities to travel alongside Ruth and Gary and loves taking part in activities and baking for whānau.

Zahira is multi-lingual, speaking English, Hindi and Urdu, and has qualifications in hospitality and catering.

Zahira enjoys staying fit through walking, cycling, and swimming. In her free time she cooks, reads, and contributes to her community through voluntary work.
