Healthy Kai workshop to celebrate Matariki

We held our first Matariki hui on Saturday 10 June, focused on healthy kai. We had over 30 whānau attend, who experienced some familiar and unfamiliar Māori-Mediterranean fusion kai and rongoa like kawakawa, beautiful raw fish and karengo.

Whānau created this kai together, with the help of facilitators Cathy and Haimona. We all learned about how kai, relaxation and breathing affect our tinana. It was also a great opportunity for our young people to take charge of the cooking, while parents and caregivers sat back and enjoyed a bit of pampering. Claire from Mobile Massage Corporate Company gave neck and shoulder massages to some lucky whānau, who we hope are now feeling relaxed and ready for the Māori new year.
