Māori language week - Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

To celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2017, we have a whakataetae - a competition - for you to practise your reo.

The best way to practise is to korero, so to be in to win your very own copy of the fantastic book below, we want you to phone our navigator Waikura and use some everyday reo.

To enter, all you need to do is phone Waikura on 027-559-1341, and;

  1. Introduce yourself in Māori

  2. Ask: Pehea o Kare-a-roto? (How is she feeling?)

  3. Say: Kei te __________ au (How you are feeling)

This may go something like:

Mihimihi: Kia ora Waikura, ko Ruth toku ingoa / Hi Waikura, my name is Ruth.

Pehea o Kare-a-roto: Kei te pēhea koe?  Kei te hiakai au / How are you feeling today? I'm feeling hungry!

To help you along your way,  we have some resources that you can use.  Select either button below to access these.

This whakataetae will run all of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.  Entries will close at 5pm on Thursday 21 September - or, Rāpare, 21 Mahuru.
