Pamper day for caregivers
We know how important it is to celebrate those who support and care for whānau and we were pleased to host a pamper day for parents and caregivers on Saturday 29 July. Thanks to Shelley at The Therapy Room for such great service and lovely soap. Thanks also to our whānau member Tamara for her beautiful products that were koha to whānau.
Healthy Kai workshop to celebrate Matariki
We held our first Matariki hui on Saturday 10 June, focused on healthy kai. We had over 30 whānau attend, who experienced some familiar and unfamiliar Māori-Mediterranean fusion kai and rongoa like kawakawa, beautiful raw fish and karengo.
Whānau created this kai together, with the help of facilitators Cathy and Haimona. We all learned about how kai, relaxation and breathing affect our tinana. It was also a great opportunity for our young people to take charge of the cooking, while parents and caregivers sat back and enjoyed a bit of pampering. Claire from Mobile Massage Corporate Company gave neck and shoulder massages to some lucky whānau, who we hope are now feeling relaxed and ready for the Māori new year.
Have your say on Whāia Te Ao Marama: The Māori Disability Action Plan
The Ministry of Health is looking for feedback on the draft Whāia Te Ao Marama 2017-2022: The Māori Disability Action Plan. Whāia Te Ao Marama aims to improve outcomes for Māori with disabilities.

Contribute to our Hei Whakapiki Mauri feedback
Join us for a korero about the draft strategy so we can write our roopu response. Talk about what Whāia Te Ao Marama will mean for you and your whānau and awhi each other to compose feedback. We will submit all feedback jointly on behalf of Hei Whakapiki Mauri whānau.
